Calendar Next available session starts Aug 22, 2026 at 9 am

Hem a Rag Rug
When: Saturday, August 22
Time: 10:00A to 1:00P
Instructor: Loretta Stacy
Cost: $49 + $10 Materials fee (Due day of class to instructor)

Learn to hem a rag rug with a firm hem.  No corners to curl and no knots to stand on. This hem is very firm and keeps your rug flat on the floor. The student will learn to do a half Damascus and hem the rug.

Instructor will provide rag rug samples to hem. The student can take them home as an example to keep. We will use the sewing machines at AATC.

This class is for people who already have weaving experience and want to learn more about finishing off a woven rag rug.

Feel free to reach out to Carrie.aatc@gmail.com with any questions.

Everyone will finish.

All levels of basket weavers welcome.

Finished basket will measure approximately 9.5" x 4”.

Material cost due instructor date of class is $40.

* Please bring an old hand towel for wet materials

** Feel free to bring a bag lunch or snack and something to drink since the class runs through the lunch hour.

*** Materials fee of $40 due the day of class to the instructor.

(This bowl is similar in structure to the basket created in our Summer Bowl Basket Weaving class.)
